Developed and created in March 2024, ‘reflections of a Black star’ is in dialogue with a written thesis for my Africana Studies major at Fordham University entitled, Afro-futurism: The Black Body as an Immortal Canvas of Storytelling, Resistance, and Mysticism. This film centers itself around the movement of Afrofuturism and explores, through three distinct chapters, aspects of the Black narrative and, consequently, how varying art mediums, such as dance, film, graphic design, and music, can be modes of Black storytelling and liberation, all of which are not beholden to the limitations of time.
