Homage

Homage, as an immortal work, explores how Black presenting bodies can exist within movement conversations using gesturing as a means of developing an abstract conversation and specifically, using vocabulary from popular dance and obtuse, foreign forms. These “other” forms are, through the continual development of the work, are presented through other multidisciplinary avenues such as instrumental sound choice, voice, and/or movement scores. Homage, consequently, is most drawn to the act of repetition and its effect on the dancer through exhaustion and, at the same time, its psychological effect on the viewers of my work.
